While the pandemic may be slowing down here in New York City, bike shops haven’t been. Bike shops in NYC and across the tri-state are flooded with bike sales as people are opting for bicycles as the “new norm” transportation alternative. The major issue shops are facing is a shortage in bikes versus the demand. Check out a great article written by Christina Goldbaum of the New York Times that goes into discussing the long waits, surging sales and the transition from public transportation to bicycles. I also discuss cycling as a safer option for commuting during this pandemic here… Cycling, The Safest Transportation Alternative During a Pandemic.
